Ranked at 20th!
The 2009 version of The S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants was revealed this Monday, April 20th at London's Freemason's Hall.
This list is already in its eighth year running and in short, it is run by the magazine Restaurant in UK and announce the world's best once a year. We understand that this list is highly prestigious not just in UK/Europe but also in North/South American gastronomy industry. The panel of 806 judges travel around the world non-stop and they have a sharp antenna and have the palate to know the best and the latest. Each vote from such journalists, proprietors, and chefs count to compile the list and we are truely grateful for the 2009 result.
We have learned that until last year's extensive list, we didn't even make it in the top 100. The goal seemed very far away to put our name in the best 50 list. You can all see how shocked we are to be contacted and been told that we should attend the award. At this point, this award is not known in Japanese general public and the press so we wanted to tell you to have a look at it and perhaps, be curious enough to experience our menu. Please spread the word and we look forward to where this wonderful recognition will take us next.
Our aim is to be proud of this result but never be satisfied of status quo. We will keep evolving every second to be one of the top restaurants to represent Japanese gastronomy scene.
